Getting into It

Let’s dig into these goodies and make some sense of them. How can you use them to your best advantage? These are just suggestions to get you going on the right path to prosperity…but some of them have worked for a long time. And…some of them are pretty new—maybe especially to you. All the better to review and consider and implement.

  1. “Don’t Bury the Lead! Begin with it!” People have limited—and shrinking—attention spans. Get their attention early, before they wander away mentally.
  2. Communicate using the right channels for today’s market. Purchasing patterns have changed. YouTube, Google and Facebook, among others, get people’s attention and can be inexpensive to use. Don’t dismiss their possibilities.
  3. Done correctly, email can be the most cost-effective way to generate leads, but there are proper ways to do it. You should use email. Learn how to market with it or find someone who can do it for your company.
  4. “Lead Magnets. Email marketing is most effective when you offer a ‘lead magnet’. These days, an offer of a ‘free estimate’ is no longer an effective lead magnet. Come up with something valuable enough to convince your prospect to leave a name and email address, to claim that lead magnet.
  5. Following Up. With your first piece of ‘new marketing’, already know how you will be following up. Don’t leave it to chance. When that results in a sale, the proper follow up after the install is to request a review—preferably, a review on your Google Business Profile page. Reviews are critical in how you rank in the search engines.
  6. Meet the Customer’s Needs. It’s why you’re there. Make the customer comfortable enough to talk with you and explain what the problem.is. In other words, don’t talk too much—just enough. Your customer has a problem. You are in business to solve the need and fix the problem.
  7. Adding Value. How can you add value to your offer? Find out what it is and then figure a way to provide it.
  8. Strive to sell bundles. What can you add for ‘just a little bit more”. Is there a service you can have your tech do when onsite—already—and it does not require a separate visit? Maybe you leave a filter (if it’s DIY) and you offer guidance with a phone call. Keep the love going that your customer has now, and help your customer to keep your company ‘top of mind’.
